Thanks for a great first class—I’m really looking forward to seeing the photographs everyone makes this semester.
You should have received an email from me going over this week's homework, as well as a separate invitation to join the class blog. If you did not receive both of these, please let me know ASAP--it means that there might be a mistake on my end with your email address and I'd like to correct it as quickly as possible.

I mentioned that I would share an example of what I mean when I say you need a card reader. Here is a link to a standard example:

I’m not endorsing this particular car reader—this is just to give you an idea of what to look for. You can find them many places, including B&H, Best Buy, Radio Shack, or Amazon. If in doubt, please feel free to email me.
So, on to this week’s homework!:
-Using any of the rules of composition that we discussed in class, I want you to take a photograph of something “invisible” (how you interpret this is entirely up to you!) and post it to the class blog. be sure to write what your image is a photograph of, and which compositional technique you used.
-Send me the link to your personal blog. if you are already making a “Learning Portfolio” as part of the Parsons program, you can just send me the link to that. if you don’t already have a blog, you can create one for free using Blogger or Wordpress. If you run into any trouble, be sure to let me know.

In the mean time, before next class I want you to start shooting as much as possible in your free time, trying out each of the Rules of Composition that we discussed in class. Also, please start thinking about what subject you might like to base your semester project on.
