Diane Arbus, Chold with a Toy Hend Grenade, Central Park, 1962 |
I hope you all are having a great weekend!
This week, we took a look at manual exposure, concentrating on shutter speed.
We took a field trip to Washington Square Park, where I asked you to shoot an example of frozen motion and blurred motion using Shutter Speed Priority Mode (Tv or S on the dial). For this week's homework, I'd like you to post an example of frozen motion and blurred motion (be sure to caption each image with the exposure--ISO, shutter speed, and aperture). I'd also like you to post the following:
Shoot and post a 5 image photo essay about someone in your household or a close friend. Try to tell us their story as objectively as possible.
Additionally, please email me with your thoughts about your series. Don't worry if you aren't sure abut what you are posting yet--just tell me what you are thinking.
Next class, we will take a closer look at aperture and metering, will take a shooting field trip, and will start working with camera raw. Be sure to bring your card reader and hard drive with you, as well as coming to class with Metro card fare for 2 rides.
If you have any questions about any of this, please get in touch.
