week 1 (Robert Mapplethorpe) Lisa Lyon

This was a photo of Lisa Lyon, taken by Robert Mapplethorpe. This was one of my favorite photos when i came to the guggenheim museum for the fist time, it has a lot of empowerment, Lisa at the time of the picture was one of the first female bodybuilders and I thought this was inspiring because she broke the social stereotypes of a woman and the way the photographer took it was beautiful. Robert Mapplethorp is my favorite photographer because he's one of the photographers i've been introduced to and I like that he takes photos that would shock the audience, he was daring in his work and he expressed body positivity and other things that were seen as taboo.
