My name is Tyara and I’m from a town in New Jersey just
outside NYC. I’ve always been the artistic kid in my friend group; I like to be
creative and share my ideas. I love to explore new places and be as adventurous
as I can. I’m trilingual, besides English I speak French and Spanish. I like to
write poems and make watercolor paintings that go along with my photography, because
I feel words and paintings help make my pictures more personal. I play guitar
and piano, and I’m in the process of getting my scuba diving license. My
favorite place in the world is either Turks and Caicos or Mexico, because I love
the beach. There are so many other places in the world that I want to travel to
like England, France, Greece, Australia… pretty much I want to go everywhere because
I love learning about different cultures and customs that are specific to a
country. I think photography is one of the only things that helps clear my mind,
it’s therapeutic for me. The picture above is one of my favorite pictures I’ve
ever taken, I took it a couple of weeks ago when experimenting with digital
double exposure.

About me - Pawel Lyskawinski
Photo by Arie Farrel. Dress and make up by me. |
My favorite dish is a traditional polish duck with steamed bread dumplings and sliced apples on the side. I love my English bulldog(Mitty). My favorite color is red. I am not afraid of doing things that are considered "crazy". I wore make up and wedge boots in Poland, which is like an invitation to get yourself killed in my country because it is a very strict and traditional place.
That is a small summary of me. I look forward to learn more about photography because I never knew how to do good photos. I want to learn more about fashion photography to make better pictures of my designs.

Week 1 Wrap-Up
Gabriel Orozco, Cats and Watermelons, 1992 |
Thanks for a great first class! We covered a lot of material today, so thank you for sticking with it. We will be shooting outside next week, so dress for the weather and don't forget to bring your camera!
You should be all set to post to the blog. I've posted a tutorial on the blog to show you how to make a post and upload videos, just in case you run in to trouble. If you have any problems logging in or uploading videos, let me know.
The class Dropbox (where I will post any handouts from class, including the syllabus and the supply list) can be found here.
On to this week’s homework:
1- Before the end of the weekend, post a photo to the class blog. This can be anything—one of your own pictures, a photo you like. Please be sure to tell us a little bit about yourself in the post.
2- Take 50+ photos every day (for a goal of 500 by the end of the week). Get used to taking your camera with you everyday. Don’t self-edit right now—just shoot. Experiment with the techniques we discussed in class today.
3-Before next class, shoot and post a photograph of something "invisible". You can interpret this any way that you like.
That’s it! If you have any difficulty accessing the blog, or if you just have any questions about the supply list or anything that we covered in the syllabus today (or if there is anything in particular you'd like to make sure we cover), please let me know.
I’m looking forward to next week!
How to Post to the Blog
Hi everybody!
Welcome!
Here is a short video about how to make a blog post:
Welcome!
Here is a short video about how to make a blog post:
Here is another on how to upload a photo to the blog:
You cannot upload a raw file, so you will need to upload using the .jpg file from your camera. If you post your images to the web already using Flickr or another online service, you can link that image directly.
Just a reminder that your first post must be made before our next class this coming Saturday, so if you are running into any trouble, let me know right away!
