Isha felt inspired to become a tree at Washington Square park. This is her story. 

Response to photo by Nan Goldin

This is a photo responding to a photo called Misty in Sheridan Square. In her photo, there is a drag queen who has blue hair. This person has blue hair as well. They are both shot outside, with an out of focus city in the background. This photo plays off of Nan Goldin's. The subject in her photograph is facing the camera, looking straight into it. Here, the person has her face turned. It has more texture, and less background action. Sort of giving an opposing tone, but still has somewhat the same vibe.

responding to crit #1

The advice was to not use the blur tool, so I figured out  way to make the background blurry. It's simply a low f/stop. Didn't know why I haven't though of that before! I used the telephoto lens on this.

Portrait of a Stranger

The day I shot this, (in class) was the day of this couple's 50th anniversary. They came to Washington Square Park from Philly. The woman told me that they come to the city at least twice a year. With a daughter that went to art school here, they were more than willing to have a little conversation with me. Wishing them a happy anniversary, I finally captured a candid laugh.
