Today after class I went and took photos around the same area with my friend Brandon (also a photographer who just graduated from SVA, and who I shoot with very frequently). As we were shooting we found a street that looked nothing at all like an NYC street (it had colorful apartment like houses and flower boxes and iron gates). This sparked my inspiration for a series that focuses on taking portraits in areas that do not represent or resemble NYC at all. Although, as someone who is more interested in commercial styles than conceptual styles, I feel as if it would challenge myself to find new areas and explore and work with my environment as a photographer.
As a second proposal, with my "more-commercial" style of portraiture I would like to maybe experiment more with color in my portraits, so I can stick to the style I enjoy best but focus on making my portraits more vibrant and interesting.
These photos are awesome!
