Esther Hovers, False Positives, 2016 |
It's hard to believe that the first week is already over!
Thanks for a great first crit--all of the hard work you've put into the last week really showed.
In addition to completing our first critique, we also visited the Aperture Foundation to see The 2019 Summer Open: Delirious Cities and learn about their Work/Study program.
This weekend I want you to really concentrate on continuing to shoot your series and to collect footage for your video project. You all received some insightful feedback from your classmates. Please consider their feedback as you continue to make photographs.
On to the homework:
- The most important thing is to shoot as much as possible, and to have fun doing it.
- Be sure to leave feedback on the blog for Sophie's series, sometime today.
- Create and post a portrait photograph "inspired" by an image from "Delirious Cities". This can be any image, and how you interpret your response is wide open and entirely up to you. This can be through composition, format, style, subject matter, or it can just be responding to a theme or other element. Be sure to list which image you are responding to.
- Shoot and post at least one image that is responding to the feedback that you received during your critique. Please post before Monday.
- Edit your Week 1 Project: The Flaneur down to 5 images (one for each day). Look to create a narrative flow, a theme, or a consistent feeling. Post these to the blog--we'll take a look at them fist thing Monday morning.
- Shoot a variety of video footage in multiple settings. be sure to watch the footage and listen to the audio (with headphones) to get a sense of how your camera is recording audio and video. Be sure to bring the footage with you to class on Monday, when we will be going into detail about video settings and capturing footage in the field.
