Week 2 Day 1 Wrap-Up

Richard Avedon, Ronald Fischer "Beekeeper", Davis, California (“In The American West”), 1981
Hi Everyone!

It's hard to believe this is our final week.

Today, we explored narrative and constructed photography and experimented with collaborating in small group projects.
In the afternoon, we visited the Avedon Foundation to learn more about the work of Richard Avedon.

If you'd like to learn more about the Avedon Foundation's internship program, please contact info@avedonfoundation.org or let me know and I'll put you in touch directly with the internship coordinator.

For tonight, continue working on your series and video.

Additionally, please photograph and post a short photo essay (3-5 photographs) about someone in your household. One of these photos should be a "formal" portrait--shot to look as much like a clean "studio" space as possible.

Tomorrow, we are taking an all-day shooting trip to Coney Island (weather permitting).
Please pack light and be sure to bring the following:
  • 2x MeroCard Fare
  • Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses
  • Rain jacket / plastic bag for your camera
  • Water
  • Camera
  • Fully charged camera batteries
  • Empty Memory Cards
  • Packed lunch and/or lunch money
  • $10+ for the Wonder Wheel
Since it's a long trip, we will be leaving the classroom right away. Please don't be late as we will be unable to wait for you.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will be working in Photoshop in the afternoon--be sure to bring files to work on just in case!

See you tomorrow!
