Nan Goldin Exhibit

Nan Goldin's Photo: Max and Richard

When I saw this photo, a story automatically came to my mind. The man is the father of the child who is sleeping, and has just come home from a very long day at work, which explains why he is dressed in a suit. The child is already asleep, while the father is just getting home. The look on the fathers face looks as though he wishes he could spend more time with his son, but due to his job, their time together is very limited. He has a nurturing look on his face, longing to be with his son. I know that was really drawn out and way too detailed but I wanted to explain my train of thought so the bottom photo makes sense. :)

My photo:

Now, the reason I took this picture to represent my interpretation of Nan Goldin's photo is because the father loves his son, just as I love music. Although the picture isn't of me, I would categorize this is a self portrait, as we were discussing earlier. My friend who is in the portrait clearly looks cheery and upbeat next to the ukulele, which is a huge part of my life. The love that I interpret to be on the father's face, is the love I feel for music.
