Introduction

This is a photo I took this summer when I was making a documentary focusing on family values of the Bulang minority community in Yunnan, China. The girl on the left is one of my crew members.

As documentary filmmakers, we should not only offer sympathy to our interviewees, but also offer empathy. We need to live the way they live and feel the way they feel in order to tell better stories to our audiences. We show our own personalities in different stories.

I had no interests in nature at all when I was little. landscapes photography gave me the passion and curiosity to explore the unknown.
